Thu Nov 26, 2015 10:05 pm

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since we've done awards, and I think a lot of you deserve a lot of recognition. Which is why I brought a wheelbarrow full of awards for you!

Level 1 Awards

Meritorious Newcomer of the Month
Image
Recipients: Marcus Kallan (May), Kahnr Dai (July), Ronald Roberts (July), Malbi tai-Konjah (November)
For jumping into the USS Portland, actively posting, taking the initiative to get involved with the story, and showing a lot of potential as a new player.

Medal of Honour
Image
Recipients: Alenis Meru, Tolaran Kian, Arthur Reynolds, Brad Silverton
For a dangerous spacewalk into a Borg unimatrix; one which may have bought enough time to save the quadrant.

Air Medal
Image
Recipients: Kahnr Dai, Ronald Roberts (on behalf of Jessica White)
For flying two shuttles disguised as rocks into a nebula full of Borg and successfully avoiding detection long enough to accomplish our goals.

Unit Citation
Image
Recipient: Arthur Reynolds
For the creation of a fascinating subplot involving Yridian criminals, stolen data, and more to come…

Plot Development Citation
Image
Recipient: Kahnr Dai
When Kahnr disguised a couple shuttles as rocks, we all knew what we had to do next – dangerous shuttle mission into a nebula crawling with Borg!

Marksmanship Ribbon
Image
Recipients: Alenis Meru, Brad Silverton
For successfully engaging and scoring hits on Borg drones and probes with a phaser rifle, while travelling at a high rate of speed in zero gravity.

Friendship Ribbon
Image
Recipients: Sera Williams, Alenis Meru, Marcus Kallan, Jason Beauvoir
Sera & Alenis: For the close friendship that has developed between Sera Williams and Nikki Barclay. Since they first met in Quark’s bar while Nikki was having one of her panic attacks, Sera and Nikki have been great friends, working closely with each other and comforting each other in times of pain.
Marcus & Jason: Marcus is not an easy person to make friends with, but somehow Jason has managed to do it.

Purple Heart:
Image
Recipients: Sera Williams, Marcus Kallan
Sera: Sera Williams was exposed to high amounts of dark energy radiation while saving the USS Portland from destruction due to an imminent reactor overload.
Marcus: In an alternate future, Marcus bravely sacrificed himself in order to allow the Portland to escape from its pursuer, the much more advanced and powerful USS Eclipse.

Whoopi Goldberg Diversity Ribbon:
Image
Recipients: Alenis Meru, Tyrlai Zade, Jason Beauvoir
Alenis: For the successful portrayal of a Bajoran character, as she comes to terms with her identity as a refugee, her long-lost half-Cardassian sister, and her relationship with her religion.
Jason: For the successful portrayal of a part-Vulcan character, including his pon farr and troubled relationship with his mother.
Tyrlai: Tyrlai is the most interesting Trill in the galaxy.

Civilian Commendation Medal
Image
Recipient: Eilis Ross
For successfully portraying a teacher on a Starfleet vessel

Professional Merit
Image
Recipient: Marcus Kallan
Marcus, aka Protein Cube, is a joy to post with. His character’s sardonic attitude and little quirks, as well as the skill of the writer, make him a fun character to needle relentlessly.

Heart of the Tiger
Image
Recipients: Sera Williams, Jason Beauvoir
For your skillful writing of the space battles between the USS Portland and the USS Eclipse in the alternate future timeline.

Good Conduct Medal
Image
Recipient: Timothy Rouse
While Agnes has been on LOA for some time, I think her contribution to the simm should be acknowledged. Agnes does a lot of work behind the scenes, and has created three websites for the USS Portland so far, each one better than the last.

Level 2 Awards

Exemplary Courage Medal
Image
Recipienst: Marcus Kallan, Sera Williams
Marcus: In an alternate future, Marcus beamed over to the engine room of a pursuing Starfleet vessel and sabotaging their warp core, sacrificing himself in the process. His brave sacrifice allowed the crew of the Portland to escape from their pursuers and to accomplish their mission to set the timeline right.
Sera: For stepping into a room filled with unknown, mysterious radiation in order to stop a dark energy reactor from overloading, Sera saved the USS Portland from imminent destruction.

Tactical Superiority Award
Image
Recipients: Sera Williams, Jason Beauvoir, Marcus Kallan
Using a variety of creative tactics, Sera, Jason and Marcus were key in enabling the Portland to bust out of spacedock and hold off the USS Eclipse in an alternate future. With only an archaic Miranda class vessel scheduled for decommissioning and a skeleton crew, they were engaged by the far more powerful, state of the art USS Eclipse twice. On the first occasion, they disabled the Eclipse and allowed the Portland to escape, and on the second occasion, they managed to knock out one of the Eclipse’s four nacelles and hold the vessel off long enough other crew members to accomplish their mission.

Congratulations to all the winners! You are all what makes the Portland so awesome!

As always, if you would like to nominate a fellow crew member for an award, please do so! The list of available awards is online here, and to nominate someone, simply contact the command staff.

In addition, once Agnes gets back from LOA, she'll be working on a way to display your award images on the forums to brag!
